Governing Body

MICHAEL GLITHERO

I've been a Local Authority Governor at Sharmans Cross Junior School governor for 5yrs. I became a School governor because I wanted to use the skills and knowledge I've gained in my professional career and put something back into my local community.

My interests include cycling, sailing, football and cricket (no longer play, though I'm a keen follower !!) I'm an Electrical/Electronics Engineer by profession. Initially starting my working career as an Electrical Apprentice at a Machine Tool Company. I then moved to Rover Group and became involved in Vehicle Electronics Design and Vehicle Launch. I was given the
opportunity to work as a liaison engineer with BMW, which involved co-ordinating joint Rover Group/BMW design activities. I'm currently a Senior Manager in Product Development for Jaguar/Land Rover and am responsible for a department of 90 electrical development/managerial staff. These days, my role is less technical and more finance/strategy based. I also get involved in company recruitment.

My aim is to take my previous experience and use it to best support the pupils and staff at Sharmans Cross Junior School
